Safety Inspection: When completing the following tasks, make sure you comprehend and follow all directions and personal safety precautions. Ask your technician what these are if you're not sure. Important Note: It is the technical person's obligation to replace the spin on filter. Replacing Sequence 1. Verify the availability of new filters. Consult the vehicle's service manual to determine the type of filter needed before removing a spin-on filter. The original filter sidewall or the OEM* number for each vehicle may be given in the handbook. Each spin-on filter with a J.P.N. filter has a unique number that you may select from our catalog, and the OEM number (replace) is prominently displayed on the packing and housing body. 2. Find the appropriate tool and filter. Usually, the filter is situated beneath the engine at an angle or on the side of the engine block. To remove the old filter, use the appropriate tool (typically a chain or belt hand tool) and twist it counterclockwise. Maintain the thread on the engine housing. 3. Take out the filter and look around. In order for the engine's seating area and the new filter's surface to effectively seal, remove the old filter and clean it. Verify that the filter's removed seal isn't still adhered to the engine. 4. Get a new filter. Verify the right part number and get the J.P.N. products replacement filter. Fitting a fresh filter each time you empty the fresh fluid is best practice. 5. A replacement filter that fits correctly Let the new sealing ring's surface get a little oil or grease applied to it. In addition to preventing the gasket from binding and distorting while being tightened, this will aid in creating a tight seal. Place the filter in such a way that the two surfaces meet. To ensure proper mounting, tighten an additional 3/4 turn after that. Note: Written replacement instructions are included with every J.P.N product and may be found on the housing body and packing.
